Call for Abstracts

You are invited to submit abstracts for poster presentation at the Canadian Nutrition Society (CNS) Annual Conference.


Please read all of the following carefully before submitting your abstract. 
 

SUBMISSION DATES & DETAILS

January 31, 2025 – 11:59PM ET - Abstract Submission Deadline (FIRM). All abstracts must be submitted by this deadline to be considered for publication in the Applied Physiology, Nutrition, and Metabolism (APNM) journal. After this time, the submission tool will be locked, and no further edits or submissions will be possible. Draft or in-progress abstracts must be submitted by the deadline. Abstracts submitted after January 31, 2025, 11:59 PM ET will NOT be eligible for awards or publication.

March 12, 2025 -  Authors will receive their abstract review results via an email from CNS Annual Conference 2025. The email will have the subject line 'CNS-SCN Conference 2025 Participation Request' and will include further instructions for accepted authors.  Abstract award recipients, including Oral/Poster competition finalists and those selected for Flash Presentations, will receive further instructions regarding their poster presentation format in mid-to-late March.


ABSTRACT AWARDS

When submitting your abstract, you will be asked if you wish to be considered for select awards, which includes the possibility of being selected for a Flash Presentation. To be eligible for these opportunities, please follow the steps below. If you do not wish to be considered for any awards or competitions, your submitted abstract will only be considered for the Annual Conference Poster Program/Expo.

  1. Review Awards Eligibility: Before submitting your abstract, carefully review the list of available awards to determine your eligibility. You will need to select the awards for which you wish to be considered during the submission process. Available awards include the Nutrition Graduate Student and Trainee Award, other related Abstract Awards, and the Equity in Nutrition Travel Award.  Note: Only abstracts entered into the Nutrition Graduate Student and Trainee Award are eligible for Flash Presentations
     
  2. Indicate Your Interest: If your abstract qualifies, you must indicate your interest in being considered for an award by checking the appropriate box on the Abstract Submission Form. This selection must be made during submission and cannot be changed afterward.
     
  3. Submit Required Materials:

IMPORTANT REQUIREMENTS 

Each submitted abstract will undergo a blind review by at least two reviewers from the Awards Committee or review sub-committee, using established ranking criteria. For further details, refer to the CNS Review and Abstract Competition Process


POSTER PRESENTATION DETAILS*

Attendance at the conference is mandatory for all presenting authors.

In-Person Poster Expo: Presenting authors of accepted abstracts are required to participate in the on-site Poster Expo* during designated viewing times.

Virtual Poster Expo: Participation is optional but encouraged. This platform allows for extended viewing and interaction with delegates before, during, and after the conference. New for 2025: Virtual posters will be eligible for the People’s Choice award, where delegates can vote for their favorite submissions.

REQUIRED ABSTRACT FORMAT

Please note that abstracts that do not follow the required format (detailed below) may be returned to the author for revision or rejected. The abstract submission fee is non-refundable.
