Exploring dietary practices and protein consumption from a population perspective

This session will explore a variety of factors to consider when understanding protein-based intakes and the balance of plant and animal protein in populations.

Speaker/Chair Bio:

Rachel Prowse, PhD, RD is an Assistant Professor of Nutrition and Dietetics in the Division of Population Health and Applied Health Sciences at Memorial University of Newfoundland. Dr. Prowse studies factors that affect why we eat what we do. She is an expert on population determinants of diet and conducts evaluations of real-life food environment and food policy interventions in communities, provinces, and countries. Current research topics include: food marketing to children, taxing sugar-sweetened beverages, community food security, and assessing protein-based dietary pattens.
