Dr. Flavio Vieira is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Alberta in the Departments of Agricultural, Food & Nutritional Sciences and Pediatrics and is a recipient of Postdoctoral Fellowships from Alberta Innovates (2024-2026) and the Women and Children's Health Research Institute (2023-2025). Dr. Vieira completed his BSc, MSc, and PhD in Human Nutrition in Brazil, his home country, with visiting periods at the University of Alberta and the University of Porto, Portugal. Dr. Vieira holds Postgraduate diplomas in Clinical Nutrition (Residency Program) and Epidemiology, and credentials as a Registered Dietitian Specialized in Nutrition Therapy from Brazil. Dr. Vieira's main research interests are obesity and obesity-related conditions, working from prevention to improved care across the lifespan, from pediatrics to older adults, involving all areas of obesity management: nutrition, exercise, behavioral changes, pharmacology, and metabolic bariatric surgery.
